Dental Sealants

What is sealing?

Sealing literally means ‘to seal’ or ‘to close’. In this dental treatment, also known as molar sealing in The Hague, a thin layer of synthetic resin is applied to the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This is done completely painlessly and without drilling. The goal is to seal deep grooves and pits so that bacteria cannot settle there.

Why is sealing important?

Grooves in molars are difficult to keep clean, especially in children. Bacteria in plaque can accumulate there and lead to cavities. By sealing these vulnerable areas, you significantly reduce the risk of tooth decay. Sealing is a safe and effective way to protect your teeth preventively.

When is sealing applied?

Sealing molars in The Hague is usually performed shortly after the permanent molars have erupted. This is the time when the risk of cavities is greatest. Sealing offers extra protection, especially for children who struggle with thorough brushing. The treatment preserves the natural shape of the tooth and contributes to a healthy set of teeth in the long term.
