When is it a dental emergency?
Please contact a dentist immediately if you experience:
- Severe toothache or pain
- A bleeding wound that won’t stop
- A knocked-out tooth or serious dental injury
- Swelling in the cheek or a throbbing sensation
Common emergency situations
Severe pain
Acute toothache can have various causes. Always call our emergency dentist in The Hague in case of severe pain. The dentist will assess whether immediate treatment is necessary or if pain relief is sufficient. Children in pain are always given priority.
Bleeding that won’t stop
After a tooth extraction, you should bite on gauze to stop the bleeding. If the bleeding continues or restarts, contact the emergency dentist immediately.
Knocked-out tooth or trauma
A fall, blow, or accident can damage your teeth or mouth. Call quickly — in some cases, the tooth can be reinserted.
Swollen cheek or throbbing pain
This may indicate a serious infection. Sometimes the lymph nodes also become swollen. If swallowing or breathing becomes difficult, prompt assistance is necessary.
